How to install a glass sliding door in front of the wall
The track is fixed above the opening, to the wall or the ceiling; the glass door hangs from two carriages and slides in front of the wall. These are the steps of the FIP installation sheet for the glass sliding door in front of the wall.
- 5 steps
- 10 mm between door and floor
- 2 people to hang it
First the track, then the glass
The track must be fixed and level before you touch the glass. Then the fittings with the carriages are prepared, and finally the door is hung.
You'll need
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Spirit level
- Drill
- Ø 8 mm bit
- Screwdriver
- Open-ended spanner
These are the tools drawn on the sheet. The 3 mm and 5 mm Allen keys are in the box.
In the box
- Trackwith a second profile, 1 + 1
- 2 carriageswith the nut for height adjustment
- 2 glass fittingswith the gaskets
- 2 stopsto fit in the track
- Floor guidewith 2 ST 4.2 × 32 screws and 2 Ø 8 wall plugs
- 2 end capswith 2 ST 3.9 × 13 screws
- 5 M6 × 25 screwswith 5 wall plugs, for the track
- Knob and keys1 knob, 3 and 5 mm Allen keys
The track
The height of the holes depends on the height of the glass, and the line must be perfectly level: the sheet flags this with a warning next to the spirit level.
- 1
Mark the track holes 450 mm
With the spirit level, draw a horizontal line above the opening. The sheet gives two examples: with glass 2095 mm high the holes go 2165 mm from the floor, with glass 2150 mm high at 2220 mm. Mark 5 points on the line, about 450 mm apart: the first goes outside the opening, 50–100 mm from its edge.
- 2
Drill and fix the track Ø 8 mm
Drill the 5 holes with a Ø 8 mm bit, 30 mm deep. Then fix the track with the 5 M6 × 25 screws and their wall plugs.
The glass
The fittings clamp the glass between two gaskets; the carriages screw on top. Work with the glass safely supported.
- 3
Fit the two fittings on the glass
The fittings go on the top edge of the glass, towards the two ends. On each one, put the gaskets on both sides of the glass, then tighten the screws with the 5 mm Allen key.
- 4
Screw the carriages into the fittings Caution
Screw one carriage into each fitting. Mind the direction: the wheels must line up with the glass, in the direction the door slides. The sheet crosses out a carriage turned sideways.
The door
The door slides into the track from the side and is adjusted for height with the carriage nut.
- 5
Hang the door and adjust the height 10 mm
With two people, slide the carriages into the track. With an open-ended spanner, turn the nut on each carriage until the door sits 10 mm from the floor, at the same height on both sides.
On the wall or on the ceiling
Two ways to fix the track
The sheet shows the track fixed to the wall, with the screws going in from the side, or to the ceiling, with the screws from above. On the product page of the track with kit, the type of fixing, ceiling or side, is chosen when you order.

The measurements on the sheet refer to glass 2095 and 2150 mm high. If your door has another height, or the opening is wider than the track, message us before drilling: we'll give you the right measurements.
