How to measure for a pocket door
All you need is a tape measure, two measurements of the opening in the wall and your wall type. With them you'll know straight away which door to choose on the product page.

- D Opening height
- ↔ Wall type
The measurements, one at a time
Write them down in centimetres, to the nearest half centimetre, without rounding.
AOpening width
Measure the width of the opening in the wall from one side to the other, at three points: top, middle and bottom.
Keep the smallest measurement.
DOpening height
Measure the height of the opening from the finished floor to the top, on the left and on the right.

↔Wall type
Check whether the wall is masonry or plasterboard and measure its thickness on both sides of the opening.
The two wall types have different thicknesses: see below.

How to install the pocket door
Four mistakes to avoid
- Measuring the old doorWhat counts is the opening in the wall, not the leaf you have now.
- Measuring before the floor is laidHeight is taken from the finished floor. If the floor goes in later, the opening changes.
- RoundingWrite the measurements as you read them on the tape, to the half centimetre. Always keep the smallest.
- Mixing up masonry and plasterboardThe two walls have different thicknesses. If you're not sure, send us a photo.
